Integrate the Curriculum

Integrate the Curriculum

Integrating the curriculum into your classroom is the result of combining the different subject areas into your teaching, and taking a more innovative approach to expanding on the themes which are discovered as a result.

Integrated classrooms allow students to discover more than one concept and skill at once, discovering knowledge which extends far beyond the classroom.

For instance, an integrated program which focuses on the sciences may teach these skills through the less conventional medium of the arts, allowing students to engage with these ideas in a new and exciting way. Such engagement is a dream for dedicated teachers, and also has a dramatic and positive effect on learning.

The notion is to teach interdisciplinary skills and research skills without causing students to lose their interest and focus. By integrating the curriculum, this can be accomplished – resulting in renewed fascination amongst the students who are being taught.
