Tolerance and acceptance are two of the most important life skills for people to learn, yet they are just as frequently overlooked within the teaching system. Let’s take a quick look at some of the key ways to encourage a tolerant and accepting mindset:
- Offer real-world examples.
Students need to hear examples of tolerance and acceptance, in order to understand the concepts in the real world. Be sure you have a couple of examples where these ideas worked for the benefit of all.
- Create an inclusive atmosphere.
Creating an atmosphere where everyone can share their viewpoints without fear of judgement is a great step towards encouraging a tolerant and accepting culture.
- Fight against intolerance.
Focus on ways you can peacefully fight against intolerance in your own life, as this not only helps society as a whole, but also offers you teachable examples to share with others.
